2024 Tilapia / Fish Sale
Athens SWCD is accepting orders for the 2024 Tilapia / Fish sale. Tilapia are a safe and cost effective alternative for pond weed control. They eat algae, duckweed, watermeal, milfoil, and other undesirable pond vegetation.
Tilapia general information:
· Recommended stocking rate is 20 lbs. to the acre
· Approximately 7” in length at pickup
· Reaching 12” - 14” in length by fall
· Reproduce every 21 days
· Will not withstand cold (winter) temperatures
To order, complete the order form below, and return to the Athens SWCD office with payment, no later than May 29th. The fish will be delivered to the Hocking County Fairgrounds, 100 N Homer Avenue, Logan, Ohio 43130 at 10:00 am on Wednesday, June 5th. You must pick up your orders at this time! You will need to bring containers, 5 gallon buckets work well, with some of your own pond water in them and white, unscented 13-gallon trash bags (one for each bucket) when picking up your fish.
